Projects
Below is a highlight of 3 projects I have done in my career as an undergraduate student. These projects are ones that have both sparked my interest in healthcare administration as well as helped me grow professionally.
Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital
Preliminary Working Draft
Strategic Planning In Healthcare Organizations
This project consisted of highlighting the major parts of a strategic plan for a hospital, as well as conducting research to obtain all of the necessary information that goes into it. This included an executive summary, the organizations directional strategies, environmental assessment, service area analysis, competitive analysis, internal analysis, and a SWOT analysis.

During this project I learned that picking a hospital that provided easily accessible data was critical to answering all of the needed information. I also learned how to organize and create a strategic plan for a hospital that I can take with me into my future career as a health services manager.

Development Of A Harm Reduction Program
High Risk Health Behavior And Harm Reduction
This project is one that particularly sparked my current area of interest. During this project, I worked with a team of individuals to address the public health crisis of injection drug users. This consisted of laying out the background regarding the issue as well as the complexity of the problem that was backed up by data and statistics. Towards the end of the project, I was tasked with creating a potential program that could help reduce this problem and provide help for these individuals.

One thing I learned during this team project was the consequences that injection drug users face and the stigma surrounding the issue. This is a huge public health concern and without people willing to help and provide guidance through things like rehabilitation or syringe exchange programs, the issue would in fact be more severe for our community than it already is. I also learned how to work well with a team on a project and presentation.

Personal Development Journal
Health Systems Administration

During this project I addressed the areas of knowledge that are essential to know when it comes to working in a healthcare or hospital setting. This includes the hospitals role in healthcare delivery, the importance of a hospital committee and the role they play, leaderships role within the hospital, the importance of inclusive communication, and the abilities, knowledge, and skills that are required to be a healthcare manager.

After creating my personal development journal, I learned that there are so many different components and people within the healthcare environment. I also learned what my strengths are and what I am able to bring to the table. It is important to remember that not everyone's views and opinions are going to align with yours and that is what makes a great team of healthcare professionals.
